About Ernst and Young

Ernst and Young Advisory Services Sdn Bhd (EY) provides assurance, tax, consulting and advisory services. Assurance services include Financial Audit and Fraud Investigation & Dispute Services. It dominates the majority of the share of revenues in EY. 

It is headquartered in London, United Kingdom. It was founded on 1989 through the merger of Ernst & Whinney and Arthur Young & Co. Ernst & Whinney and Arthur Young & Co are ranked at fourth and fifth in the world in 1989. Nowadays, EY is the third largest by aggregated revenue and well-known audit firm in the world. The present chairman and chief executive director is Mark Weinberger.

EY will be an official sponsor of the XXXI Olympic Summer Games to be held in Brazil in 2016. It will provide the consulting and auditing to the organizing committee of the event. In additions, EY sponsors the educational children’s show, Cyberchase, to improve mathematics literacy of children in the United States. Moreover, EY establishes a charity to support young entrepreneurs to set up their business in the United Kingdom.

EY is a people-oriented audit firm because it has a high ranking in several organization researches. It claimed EY treats its employees better than other big accounting firms. EY also achieve 100% rating on the “Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index” in 2013. Therefore, EY is the best among the Big Four accounting firm with good people-oriented. About FIDS

I am joining the Fraud Investigation and Dispute Services (FIDS). Basically, it works on forensic accounting. FIDS was placed under risk management and advisory services in the past. Recently, it was parked under one of the assurance service line in EY. This department needs various and combined knowledge on business operation, audit and advisory. The services provide by the department are compliance testing, fraud investigation, disputes solving. There are 20 employees in the department and it will be growing to the target of 40 employees. The following figure is the FIDS department structure:
